Title: Front suspension question!
Post by: Wicked70496Dart on November 16, 2014, 09:04:26 PM

Hey guys, I have a question on front suspension travel with stock front end parts during the launch. On the cover of Mopar Action there is a picture of Ray Bartons  dart leaving the starting line with the front wheels in the air.  I noticed that the front tires are still tucked up inside the wheel well, as if the car is still on the ground. How is this done, it appears that there is no suspension travel?  Thanks Matt

Limiters.   Some use an adjustable cable some use a stell limit clamp

It all depends on hp, we are just getting ready to start on the barracuda. On the mustang we only allow 1.5 inches of total travel including tire bulge. we just use chains to limit travel. At 2 inches we start to wheely and at 21/2 we are out of control.

Good Shocks will control how fast the tire falls way before the limiters stop the travel

Works perfect.  Dont understand it at present, but will work it out.

So if i couple this with the book suspension arms, all should be OK in theory

Cheers Iain.

For you guys running a stock suspension car.. for an 11 sec bracket car on a small tire..

what bushings in the front control arms? poly or oe rubber? and do you use the factory rubber "bump stops" under the upper control arms?

Thank you
Eric
